My mom always taught me to say a prayer when driving somewhere. It's something I continue to do today. Yesterday on the way to work about 2 miles from work I was about to go through an intersection on a green light, as the car in front of me did a car ran the red light from the other side and t boned the car in front of me. I had slowed down cuz I had a weird feeling then saw what was about to happen. I called 911 gave them the info and asked if I needed to stay for a witness statement they said it was up to me, so since I had to be at work I kept going but didn't feel right so called work told them id be late turned around and waited till the cop got thete. Good thing I did because the people that ran the red were tryin to tell the other guy he did. He asked if he did I said no that I would of been there with him had I not slowed down.so here's to travel prayers it kept me safe and there weren't any injuries in the wreck!
This isn't the first time prayer has intervened. While waiting to leave on a mission in Iraq during my last deployment I said a prayer like always. I had been on the roads in Iraq many times and did not wear my eye protection (usually because its so big on my face). I did always carry it with me. On this particular night after we left the gate I had something tell me to put it on, not even five minutes later I found out why. We were passing one of our fellow platoons that had pulled over to attend to a broken truck in their convoy. They were to our right and other traffic was to our left. I looked to the left and saw a civilian truck go by and bam a flash, smoke everywhere and our interpreter came flying in my direction. I just knew this was it we had been hit by a vehicle borne explosive device. I started saying the interpreters name, his headset wasn't working where he could talk back but he could hear me along with the other crew. I had eyes on him he had landed in the seat behind me. He was fine no injuries. The rest if the crew didn't know he was fine so were yelling for him on the radio, so I quickly informed them he was fine his headset just wasn't working. Then we all started talking funny, in high pitched voices. This is when we realized we hadn't been hit, our extinguisher system had malfunctioned and went off. We all had a laugh about it now we knew we were fine and everything. I then took my eye protection off knowing that was why I had it on. With the force the extinguishers went off something could have gotten in my eye.
I can go on and on about the power of prayer that has led to promptings of the spirit that have kept me safe, but I won't. Just remember prayer does wonders. May the Prayer Be With You!!!
